Sabine Martinez — Couples Therapist
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Informed · Somatic
AMFT #124954, Supervised by Erin Miguelgorry LMFT #53224
Hello, I am Sabine.
I specialize in working with couples who are longing to feel more connected, understood, and secure in their relationships.
Whether you find yourselves caught in repeating arguments, feeling distant or disconnected, or navigating the impact of past wounds, couples therapy offers a space to slow down and truly hear one another again. My approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a deeply researched model that helps partners move out of painful cycles and into more secure, supportive connection.
Together, we explore not just what is happening on the surface, but the deeper emotional needs and attachment patterns underneath. I support couples in rebuilding trust, strengthening communication, and creating a relationship that feels safe, responsive, and alive.
A Somatic, Attachment-Based Approach
In addition to EFT, my work is grounded in somatic therapy, meaning we gently include the body in the healing process. Relationships don’t just live in our thoughts—they live in our nervous systems.
I help couples:
- Recognize and shift reactive patterns in real time
- Build emotional safety and regulation together
- Stay present during difficult conversations
- Deepen intimacy, both emotionally and physically
This integrative approach supports lasting change—not just insight, but embodied experience.
My Background
My work in the field of wellness and mental health began in 2013 and has taken me across the world—from the Netherlands to Spain, South Africa, Australia, Thailand, and the United States. I’ve worked with diverse populations across the lifespan, supporting individuals and families navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, identity, and relationship challenges.
I hold a Master of Arts in Somatic Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California.
My Intention in the Therapy Space
I see therapy as a place to come home—to yourself and to each other.
I aim to create a space that feels grounded, compassionate, and real, where both partners can soften, be seen, and begin to relate in new ways. Together, we work toward a relationship that feels more secure, connected, and aligned with who you both are becoming.
As Thich Nhat Hanh beautifully said,
“Earth will be safe when we feel in us enough safety.”
