Leonardo A. Martinez

Leonardo A. Martinez, Owner, LCSW, CADCII, SAP, ACRPS

My name is Leo and I believe in the power of therapy to unlock the potential of the mind for holistic well-being. With over a decade of experience, I’ve guided countless individuals through mental roadblocks, helping them discover practical solutions to both everyday and critical challenges.

Specializing in mental health concerns, relationship dynamics, and behavioral issues including addiction, I have a proven track record of fostering healing and growth. By delving into the root causes of conflicts, I facilitate resolution and restore bonds, empowering clients of all ages to lead fulfilling lives.

My expertise extends to complex family dynamics, particularly in cases of addiction and severe mental illnesses. Through education, instilling hope, and personalized coaching, I develop collaborative support plans that honor each member’s value and responsibility.

Fluent in Spanish, I strive to serve marginalized communities by breaking down barriers to treatment and delivering culturally sensitive care. With over five years of experience as a forensic clinician, I excel in guiding clients towards pro-social narratives and successful recovery.

Grounded in Gestalt therapy principles, I view every aspect of the clinical interaction as meaningful, leveraging this awareness to provide valuable feedback and facilitate strong relationship-building.

As a certified substance abuse professional and clinical social worker, I’ve played an integral role in shaping substance abuse programs and educating future practitioners. My role as a faculty member of the Gorski-CENAPS institution which is considered the gold standard of relapse prevention therapy underscores my knowledge of and commitment to evidence-based practices in addiction recovery.

In addition, my tenure as a masters-level professor of social work at California State University reflects my dedication to sharing knowledge and fostering professional growth within the field. With a deep understanding of medication optimization and evidence-based interventions, including Motivational Interviewing , Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,, LEAP, and Integrated Dual Disorder Therapy, I ensure the safety, engagement, and integration of clients within their communities for optimal outcomes.

On a personal level, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve. As a husband, the father of 3 children, a former Marine and a person in Long Term Recovery from addiction, I believe each day is a chance to pay forward all the kindness that others showed me when I needed it most. We do recover.
